Leon and his husband live a happy life in their very nice apartment in Amsterdam-Oost, but are always on the look for improving and developing it. Their bathroom was definitely good enough, but they were having the feeling that it could just be better. We came in contact through our common network of alumni – we indeed studied in the same university, the renown Rotterdam School of Management (Erasmus University).

It wasn’t only about the look and feel of it. They wanted to move the shower and the WC around, replace the mirror, improve the sink. And when it’s about your bathroom, you surely also want to have a good look at your pipes. Especially in these old Dutch houses. All this can be summarized in few words: a complete, professional renovation to deliver the high-quality, seamless service they deserve. For us, quality in our service is the absolute foundation of every project.

As per our usual practice, we visited the site, took measurements and discussed with the owners about materials choice, quality, timeline and our communication. This is a very interesting point, because every customer has specific needs and expectations in terms of the way we communicate and bring the project forward together.

We took ownership of the new project, and we proceeded with the following:

• Existing floor and tiles removal

• Flooring and new tiles installation

• Removal of old building systems and replacement with new ones

• Walls and ceiling plastering and painting

• Electrical implant replacement

This may not have been the most difficult task of our career, but surely it took and needed specific attention and craftmanship to exceed Leon’s expectations. Our customer is a real perfectionist, which is a good thing and helps us raising the bar. Leon’s communication style is very down to the details, with frequent phone calls and on-site visits. He did actually help accomplish exactly what he and his husband were looking for. He also breathed quite a lot of dust together with us, but we always welcome new friends to the builder/plumber’s hard life.

Sometimes the final result surprises us as well. Not that we doubt about our skills and experience, but a renovation project for us is also a discovery. In this case, my first feeling when I saw it was that it really looked like a hotel’s bathroom. Like those rooms that literally deserve a picture when visited for the first time. Needless to say, our co-project leader Leon had the same feeling when we unveiled it.
